nærværk

a space for being, tuning in, and creating from the heart

We invite all women, regardless of age, background, or professional area/status, to be an active part of forming a professional community that acknowledges and embraces the entirety of who we are - personal, professional, and spiritual. Meeting once a month with activities that support creativity and healing through self-discovery, the network serves as a platform for women to create a life more closely aligned to core values, strengths, and aspirations.

Please join us if you are curious about who you are and how this can shape a personal and professional life that you can love.

Nærværk is a free space where ‘business club’ meets ‘healing circle’ - a women’s community exploring, supporting, and nourishing, the myriad of dimensions that make you uniquely you. In this network we tune in closer to celebrate and enjoy each of these unique aspects which are more complex and interesting, than can fit into any single job description or role. In our sessions together we will nurture the creation of a professional life that suits the person you already are and supports life as you want to live it, and not the other way around. Monthly meetings provide an oasis from the grind of daily life by providing a safe and authentic space to not only explore professional aspirations, but also dig more deeply into what challenges us most. We won’t ask you why, but rather why not?

A monthly check-in as a reminder to what makes each of us feel truly alive

Facilitated in a workshop format, a mix of activities are planned for each meeting including professional coaching, meditation, yoga and movement, and creative exploration. Each workshop builds upon the previous one and focuses on exploring, defining, and cultivating our unique and innate strengths. This is because what you ‘do for a living’ is intimately connected to personal identity, emotions, and hopes and fears. The planned exercises therefore engage your mind, body, and soul, to ultimately help you discover what a meaningful life looks like for you.

A focus on real connections, and not a traditional networking

Moving beyond traditional and superficial professional networking, Nærværk aims to build authentic friendship and bonds between women on both a human and professional level. Building a network of real connections means that our focus is not for example on, finding new ‘strategies’ to be more productive or better ‘succeed’ in life, but the opposite. It is not about ‘doing’, but rather more deeply ‘looking’ and ‘being’ and taking time to slow down and reflect on what success means to each of us.

Who are we are and the birth of Nærværk

We, Mia and Jeannie, serve as both curators and nurturers of Nærværk. In the last 15 years our friendship has grown since we fittingly formed a research project group exploring the empowerment of women as a part of our studies at Aalborg University. We discovered over this time, that we share a deep passion for growth and development as well as an open and explorative approach to life. Our diverse life journeys likewise have focused on serving the world and uplifting others with an approach that holistically works with the mind, body, and soul.

Mia is, among other things, a yoga teacher, community builder, project manager, mother, and business owner. Currently she is facilitating movement and healing spaces for women through yoga and walks in nature while working part-time as a coordinator at a small NGO. Having worked in 10 countries and travelled to 50, Jeannie is an eternal wanderer and artist that currently is a human rights law researcher and university lecturer. Besides being an Oxford-trained meditation teacher specialised in MBCT, she was also a humanitarian and international development project advisor.

Nærværk is truly a passion project for us with over a decade in the making. Having such diverse interests and passions made it challenging for us to figure out how and where we could ‘fit’ into this world. The idea behind this network lies in the deep friendship we built through long discussions over the years and in this authentic space where we inspired and cheered for each other through numerous struggles to navigate our personal and professional lives. Nærværk is a way we can further embrace who we truly are and also expand the cocoon of friendship and care to a larger group of women.
